Art Director – Content

Carnegie’s Art Director – Content has an artistic eye and a keen sense of leadership. They have several years of work experience at the highest level of creative communications and are responsible for elevating the verbal brand of clients and taking it to the next level. Working across various artistic mediums, they are in charge of the message of campaigns and marketing materials, strategizing, managing, and executing the verbal stylings in ways that stand apart in the higher ed marketplace. The Art Director – Content leads a team of writers, collaborates with other members of an organization, and creates presentations to tell the story of their vision. They are the initial verbal problem-solvers and direct other writers to develop concepts into winning marketing and enrollment deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Review creative briefs and client brand research and assets for quality and usability, and articulate key insights and opportunities to the project team.
  • Utilize proven storytelling skills and experience to lead the artistic vision and strategy for diverse print, digital, web, and brand messaging projects.
  • Collaborate with writers and other team members to implement creative direction.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively to create Miro boards, content strategies, and copywriting drafts.
  • Direct team to execute work from concept to final execution, within deadlines, providing regular qualitative reviews and approvals.
  • Elevate the team’s creative work with confident, appropriate, and correct insights and ideas at every step of the process.
  • Work within an agile workflow, partnering with clients through the production process and course-correcting concepts and drafts as needed.
  • Produce high-quality creative deliverables and templates that set the example.
  • Ensure the final deliverable fulfills the scope of work, creative brief, and content strategy at a high level of accuracy and quality.
  • Present work to clients with clarity and confidence.
  • Partner with Creative management and administrative team to identity process improvements, refine products, and develop new ones.
  • Innovate and experiment with new forms of storytelling.
  • Manage and delegate responsibilities to other writers and vendors, as needed, providing review and approval of their work.
  • Report to Traffic Coordinator and Project Manager possible workflow, scheduling, and staffing issues.
  • Ensure team adherence to departmental processes and standards and provide an imitable
  • Foster a collaborative, creative, positive, can-do culture that champions both team and client.
  • Help lead the onboarding, skills, and product training for creative staff.
  • Oversee the weekly timesheet management, mentorship, and annual performance review of direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to think outside the box to arrive at bold and innovative storytelling concepts.
  • Ability to foster and communicate new and original ideas within teams.
  • Consistent ability to critically evaluate the quality of creative work and guide revisions needed to bring it up to Carnegie’s high standard.
  • Thorough knowledge of print and digital communications.
  • Experience leading a team with a range of creative positions and specialties.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and inspire a team, improving their skill set and cultivating a proactive, positive mindset.
  • Strong knowledge of creative tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Drive.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent time and resource management skills while inspiring originality and creative thinking in the process.
  • Ability to discern and navigate client politics in ways that sympathize with client needs and goals and arrive at satisfactory solutions within their distinct situations.

Experience

  • Carnegie ‘s Art Director – Content must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in Creative Writing, Marketing, or a related field, and have at least five to eight years of formal writing and/or creative agency experience. Proven results managing complex communication or media projects with a strong portfolio of demonstrated successful case studies is required at application.
