Assistant Director, Paid Search

The Assistant Director of Paid Search is responsible for the management and oversight of Paid Search campaigns for key Carnegie clients while working closely with the Director and Senior Director to ensure the team stays well-versed on best practices and training, as well as brainstorming ways to move the Paid Search forward. The Assistant Director, Paid Search will have the opportunity to manage 1-3 employees on the Paid Search team. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Paid Search Campaign Management
    • Oversee the work of the Paid Search Associates and Specialists as they develop Paid Search strategies, set up campaigns, and make optimizations
    • Execute optimizations around keyword performance, campaign structure, targeting, and other facets for key Carnegie clients
    • Work with Digital Strategists to dictate the Paid Search strategy for proposal requests, RFPs, and strategy pivots in order to achieve client goals
    • Monitor the development and set up of Discovery and Performance Max campaigns
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Formulate insights around campaign performance, keyword structure, targeting, and other facets of Paid Search
    • Monitor and evaluate performance and craft meaningful recommendations for client review based on data trends that will have a positive impact on performance
    • Review and approve specialist and associate-created insights and recommendations to ensure they meet client expectations
  • Internal Team
    • Work collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Collaborate strategically with other internal specialists including the Digital Strategy team and other key digital team members to develop fully integrated campaigns to meet client goals
    • Show thought leadership by keeping pace with Paid Search industry trends as well as bringing forward ideas around process improvements, best practices, and tests
    • Expand leadership role into the greater digital team by leading large team trainings
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Interview and hire new team members
    • Oversee the daily workflow of specific employees
    • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
    • Handles discipline and termination of specific employees in accordance with company policy
    • Has an integral part in training new employees who join the Paid Search team
    • Work closely with and provide mentorship to Paid Search Associates and Specialists on keyword creation, campaign setup, and optimizations

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to effectively multitask in a deadline-driven atmosphere.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills through independent troubleshooting of issues before escalating to other team members
  • Quick learner and ability to adapt to new and changing technologies
  • Clear written communication skills, both internally and externally
  • Passion, energy, and enthusiasm for digital marketing and client success
  • Due to the remote environment, effective communication and time management skills are required, as well as the ability to use/learn multiple technology platforms and switch between them on a regular basis
  • Physical requirement: Must be able to work at a computer for prolonged periods

Credentials and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Marketing/Advertising major or concentration is preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience working in Paid Search in the Google Ads platform; lead generation is a plus
  • Data analysis experience, particularly experience in analyzing digital campaign metrics to measure success
  • Experience with employee management is preferred
  • Experience with Asana or other project management tools and Google-based products (Docs, Sheets, and Slides) is a plus
  • Currently certified in Google Ads Paid Search is a plus
