The 2025 Communicator Awards honor two of Carnegie’s clients—the New York Institute of Technology and Caltech—with awards of excellence.

The Communicator Awards is an annual competition recognizing the best in advertising, corporate communications, public relations, and design. It is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals.

Here is more about the two winning campaigns:

The New York Institute of Technology Website Redesign

NYIT partnered with Carnegie to elevate their web presence into a modern, sustainable website, including a transition to a more functional content management system. The result was an enrollment-focused website that features a striking design befitting a tech-forward institution with a global presence.

The new site offers a significantly improved experience on mobile; robust design options to feature photo, video, and student stories; and a refined information architecture that elevates key differentiators like research and the School of Medicine. The new site also boasts greater search engine visibility, with a 50% increase in organic impressions year-over-year.

Caltech—Creating a Community for Black Students

Caltech first engaged with Carnegie to update the content strategy for its undergraduate admissions site. The project reimagined this site’s information architecture, reorganized pages for a better user experience, and refreshed the copy to better reflect Caltech’s unique personality and challenging student experience.

Caltech’s primary goal was to attract a diverse student body from different socioeconomic backgrounds. The university wanted to craft a narrative that students of color, first-gen students, and women belong at Caltech.

To accomplish this goal, Carnegie wrote several profiles telling the unique stories of students and alumni. Through Zoom interviews, our team got to know each individual’s journey and impact at Caltech, which was then translated into written features housed on the Admissions section of the website. The Award of Excellence went to a profile telling the story of computer science major Favour Okodogbe, who helped found the school’s Black Student Union.
