About the Role
Senior Slate Communications Strategists are senior individual contributors on the Enrollment Communications team. They bring deep strategic and technical expertise to complex client engagements, help set the standards other Strategists follow, and act as the go-to resource when a campaign or client question gets hard. They also own the success of their assigned Slate Deliver campaigns, using performance data and Slate expertise to shape recommendations that move client results forward.
What You’ll Own
- Strategic Leadership & Mentorship
- Serve as a go-to strategic and technical resource for the team on tough client, campaign, and Slate questions.
- Coach and support less experienced Strategists through peer coaching, troubleshooting, and hands-on guidance.
- Lead or help drive internal projects and process improvements that make the team faster, more consistent, and more scalable.
- Build and share best practices on enrollment communications strategy, campaign execution, Slate, analytics, and new technology.
- Slate Campaign Configuration & Monitoring
- Own the build, maintenance, and oversight of Slate Deliver campaigns for partner institutions: email builds, population and rule setup, reporting, segmentation, testing, and related infrastructure.
- Lead the most complex or high-profile campaign builds, the ones that need advanced technical judgment.
- Talk directly with clients about Slate builds, explaining process, recommendations, and tradeoffs clearly in writing and in meetings.
- Work closely with Client Delivery, Creative, Enrollment Strategy, and other team members to keep campaigns accurate and on-strategy.
- Slate Campaign Strategy
- Lead communication flow strategy for complex or high-profile clients, factoring in performance data, institutional priorities, and audience needs.
- Dig into Slate reports and benchmarks to spot trends and find opportunities to optimize campaigns.
- Build advanced recommendations on segmentation, testing, personalization, and automation.
- Partner with Enrollment Strategy and client teams on key outcomes, renewal strategy, and plans for the next cycle.
- Team Leadership
- This role has no direct reports.
- You lead through expertise, not formal authority.
- Mentor peers, share knowledge, and set the technical bar for the team.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent life/work experience.
- At least 3 years of intermediate to advanced experience in Technolutions Slate CRM, including hands-on work in the Deliver module.
- At least 3 years of experience in higher education.
- Proven ability to lead through expertise, mentorship, and strategic problem-solving.
- Track record of independently leading complex or ambiguous client engagements and making sound strategic calls.
- Comfortable serving as a strategic and technical escalation point for peers and cross-functional partners.
- Deep knowledge of Slate Deliver operations, enrollment communications strategy, campaign reporting, and segmentation.
- Skilled at turning complex campaign data into clear, actionable recommendations.
- A track record of spotting opportunities for process improvement, automation, and scalable team practices.
- Able to build or contribute to frameworks and standards that raise team performance.
- Strong peer mentorship and consultative communication skills, with clients and internal partners alike.
- Ability to influence outcomes across teams without formal authority.
- Sharp organizational skills: attention to detail, multitasking, prioritization, and sound decision-making.
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort collaborating across teams.
- Solid grasp of how Slate configurations affect emails, recipient populations, reporting, segmentation, and performance.
- Comfortable managing time and communicating across multiple platforms in a remote environment.
