About the Role

The Social Media Specialist runs paid social campaigns for Carnegie’s higher education clients — account and campaign setup, audience building, bidding, budget management, and ongoing testing. This role owns performance month to month: watching the data, making the calls that improve results, and translating what happened into clear recommendations clients can act on. The role also supports media planning and develops social budget recommendations based on client goals, historical performance, and projected opportunities. When applicable, the Specialist may also manage organic social media efforts. It’s also a mentoring role, with responsibility for reviewing work and helping newer team members learn the platforms and processes well.

What You’ll Own

  • Campaign Management
    • Build social advertising accounts and campaigns across all platforms, following current best practices
    • Optimize campaigns monthly for performance
    • Run regular tests on audiences, bidding, and budget allocation to find what works
    • Support media planning and prepare social budget recommendations aligned with client goals, campaign objectives, and performance opportunities
    • Manage organic social media efforts when applicable
  • Reporting & Analysis
    • Analyze monthly performance using platform data and Data Studio dashboards, and write the client-facing insight notes
    • Turn data trends into recommendations clients can act on — specific changes that move performance
  • Mentorship & Team Support
    • Review campaign builds and other work from newer team members, offering feedback and support so work is accurate and aligned with best practices
    • Help train and mentor newer Social Media team members on platforms, campaign management, and team processes
  • Industry Knowledge & Thought Leadership
    • Bring ideas to team meetings — process improvements, new best practices, and tests worth running
    • Keep up with paid social trends and share articles and platform rep updates with the team
    • Contribute to content like social media blogs, webinars, and internal and external resources

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Marketing or Advertising major or concentration preferred
  • 2 years of relevant work or internship experience in digital marketing
  • Working knowledge of or hands-on experience managing paid campaigns in Facebook Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Snapchat Business Manager, and/or TikTok Ads
  • Basic knowledge of the digital marketing landscape
  • Data analysis experience preferred, especially analyzing digital campaign metrics to measure success
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Familiarity with Asana or other project management tools a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to pick up new technology quickly
  • Able to manage independent work while contributing as part of a team
  • Passion for digital marketing and client success
  • Strong communication and time-management skills, along with comfort switching between multiple technology platforms, given the remote environment
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods

They also support and mentor Social Media Associates by providing training and feedback on best practices. 

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $55,000–$65,000. Your offer will reflect the experience, skills, and qualifications you bring.
