On Thursday, June 29, 2023, The United State Supreme Court ended race-conscious admission programs. This in effect, ends the ability of colleges and universities, both public and private, to consider race as one of many factors in the admissions decision. Let’s talk about it.

Previously, Mike served as the Assistant Vice Provost for Financial Aid at Loyola Marymount University, where he led a financial aid team of more than 20 staff members and oversaw an aid portfolio exceeding $240 million. Mike has 12+ years of experience in enrollment data collection, analysis, and reporting. Mike has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. in History and Latin from Loyola Marymount University.

Scott has worked extensively in marketing and enrollment strategy, completing hundreds of strategy development projects across higher education at some of the largest and most influential institutions in the nation.

    Cezar O. Mesquita currently serves as director of the Office of Admissions at Western Washington University, overseeing enrollment planning with University leadership; undergraduate student recruitment; undergraduate application processing and selection; collaboration with high schools, community colleges, community organizations; coordination of transfer articulation and policy development; and non-departmental new student scholarship selection. Prior to joining WWU, Cezar served as director of Admissions at the University of Idaho; dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at Antioch College; director of Admissions at College of Wooster; director of Admission Doane College; and as director for Diversity Enrollment, interim director of Admissions, and assistant director of Admissions at the University of Denver. In addition he served as interim executive director/assistant director for the Latin American Educational Foundation in Denver. Over his 20-year career in higher education, Cezar has proven his ability to bring together diverse constituents to analyze data, incorporate best practices, and meaningfully collaborate to support academic and co-curricular programs. His work in small liberal arts colleges, medium-sized universities—both public and private—and in the educational non-profit sector all provide a broad perspective from which to draw, and to appreciate the complexities of the higher education sphere.
