Details
The UPCEA MEMS Annual Conference brings together professionals across graduate, online, and professional education to explore how institutions can better connect strategy to student outcomes. With a focus on innovation and impact, MEMS is where forward-thinking teams come to rethink how marketing and enrollment functions work together.
Reaching today’s modern learner—particularly adult, online, and continuing education audiences—requires more than incremental change. It demands a deeply informed, data-driven approach to enrollment strategy.
At MEMS 2026, Carnegie will be connecting with institutional leaders to explore how modular recruitment strategies and psychometric insights can help institutions better understand and engage non-traditional students.
Our work centers on aligning institutional brand truth with the real motivations, needs, and decision-making behaviors of adult learners—helping teams move beyond surface-level engagement to build meaningful, lasting relationships.

Today’s online learners quickly filter for relevance, clarity, and credibility, yet many institutions still address them as a single broad audience. Drawing on Carnegie Research’s national study of 10,500+ prospective online learners and 145+ online leaders, this session explores gaps between student needs and institutional priorities around trust, support, communication, search, and decision-making.
Through the lens of the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communication’s Division of Distance Education, attendees will see how audience insight can strengthen messaging, help institutions reduce friction and make prospective students feel understood earlier, ultimately driving stronger enrollment and program growth.
