Todd Zipper is Chief Executive Officer of Carnegie, bringing more than two decades of experience building and leading education, technology, and marketing organizations. Throughout his career, he has helped organizations navigate growth, transformation, and emerging technologies while remaining focused on how education can better serve students.

Prior to joining Carnegie, Todd served as Chief Executive Officer of Axio, an AI-driven learning innovation platform focused on emerging applications of AI in education. He continues to serve as a Board Advisor to Axio and is also a Board Advisor to Financial Aid Services, Inc., where he supports go-to-market strategy, AI integration planning, product development, and strategic M&A evaluation.

Todd began his career in equity research at Smith Barney in 1998. While attending Columbia Business School, he began volunteering with Minds Matter, a national college access nonprofit serving under-resourced students, eventually becoming a co-director. The experience sparked a commitment to education that has shaped his career ever since.

He went on to join Kaplan, Inc., where he helped launch online learning programs during the early growth of online higher education. Todd later co-founded and served as COO of Education Connection, an online education marketing company backed by Kaplan. The company grew rapidly and was ultimately acquired for $35 million.
Todd later joined Weld North, a private equity firm focused on digital education, where he led due diligence on education technology investments. He played a key role in the acquisition of The Learning House and went on to serve as the company’s President and CEO for four years, leading its growth and eventual sale to Wiley for more than $200 million in 2018.

At Wiley, Todd held senior executive roles including Executive Vice President and General Manager, overseeing global education businesses that generated more than $300 million in annual revenue and employed more than 1,000 people worldwide. His work spanned higher education, online learning, workforce development, technology, and organizational transformation.

Beyond his professional work, Todd has remained closely connected to Minds Matter and has served on its board for many years. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, skiing, golf, tennis, and spending time with his family. A three-time Ironman, Todd is also working toward summiting the highest peak in each of the 50 U.S. states alongside his eldest son.
