The Search + Social Media Habits of Prospective Graduate Students

What Prospective Grads Are Searching For

Graduate student marketing in higher education has undergone significant shifts in recent years. Today’s students are online in a way past generations weren’t. We surveyed over 750 graduate students about how the internet informs their search for a graduate program.

The Search + Social Media Habits of Prospective Graduate Students

Today’s prospective graduate students face an increasingly competitive and diverse array of program options. They also face more pressure to “get it right” when it comes to their career outcomes and return on investment. We surveyed 750 students from a variety of demographic backgrounds and intended fields of study to check the pulse on how students are searching for programs online. From this information, we’ve compiled some recommendations about how schools can better serve prospective students and get them the information they’re searching for.

You’ll Learn:

  • What information students frequently search for but have trouble finding on institutional websites
  • What social platforms students are using to conduct their searches
  • Factors students say are most important, other than program of interest
