Vice President, Content Strategy

The Vice President of Content Strategy is a marketing leader responsible for shaping and executing Carnegie’s content vision and strategy. This role will lead the development of bold, distinctive, and high-performing content that positions Carnegie as the market leader in the higher education space. The VP will own content development across formats and platforms—from strategic campaigns to executive ghostwriting—and will be accountable for connecting content to measurable business outcomes.

This executive will serve as a trusted partner to leadership and a collaborator across Marketing, Market Presence, and Go-To-Market (GTM) teams. Equal parts strategist and creator,  the VP, Content Strategy will be instrumental in elevating our voice in the marketplace and strengthening the connection between our brand, our people, and the institutions we serve.

Responsibilities:

Content Strategy & Creation

  • In partnership with GTM leadership, define and execute a comprehensive, multi-format content strategy aligned with Carnegie’s brand, marketing, and growth goals
  • Create and oversee high-impact content—long-form articles, video, interactive media, social, webinars, on-stage presentations, research studies, podcasts, and more
  • Lead the development of editorial frameworks and content plans that support key initiatives, product launches, and strategic campaigns
  • Build content ecosystems around key moments—research, events, product rollouts—to amplify across channels and extend lifecycle value
  • Explore and implement emerging technologies and AI tools that enhance content development, personalization, distribution, and measurement
  • Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to track content performance and drive continuous improvement

Thought Leadership & Executive Content

  • Serve as primary ghostwriter and content partner to internal executives and subject matter experts, turning strategic insights into compelling narratives
  •  In partnership with in-house PR, coach leadership on how to extend their voice effectively across written, video, and live platforms 
  • Participate in building strategy behind internal and external thought leadership platforms, connecting executive voice to business visibility

Campaigns & ABM Strategy

  • Collaborate with the Marketing and GTM teams to architect integrated campaigns that connect storytelling to pipeline
  • Develop content strategies that support account-based marketing, vertical positioning, and lifecycle engagement
  • Work with marketing team to align all content efforts with demand generation and GTM motions, ensuring a cohesive narrative across the buyer journey

Social Strategy & Amplification

  • Lead organic social content strategy with an emphasis on engagement, brand voice, and market visibility
  • Drive integrated amplification efforts across social, earned media, and partner platforms
  • Support alignment between brand and content marketing in Carnegie’s presence on LinkedIn and other B2B-relevant platforms

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Analyze trends across the higher education, enrollment, and technology landscape to proactively inform content themes
  • Partner with the Market Presence team to align content development with events, PR, and industry engagement opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to define and execute comprehensive content strategies that advance business and brand goals
  • Narrative Development: Skilled in crafting original, high-quality thought leadership—both independently and through executive collaboration
  • Brand Positioning: Deep understanding of how content contributes to market differentiation and organizational authority
  • Campaign Integration: Strong knowledge of content’s role in ABM, demand generation, and full-funnel campaign design
  • Executive Presence: Comfortable advising and collaborating with senior leadership; confident ghostwriting and presenting on their behalf
  • Analytical Thinking: Proficiency in content performance analytics and optimization strategies
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading teams and collaborating across marketing, sales, and product functions
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a remote-first, fast-paced, and agile work environment
  • Proficient in digital tools for content development, social media, and workflow management
  • Physical requirement: Prolonged periods of being in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer
  • Curiosity and fluency in emerging content technologies and AI applications for marketing

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field (Master’s a plus) or comparable work experience 
  • 12+ years of experience in content strategy, marketing, or communications—preferably in higher education, edtech, or B2B professional services
  • Demonstrated success in leading integrated content efforts at a senior level
  • Experience managing people and mentoring high-performing, creative teams
  • Extensive experience with executive content, thought leadership platforms, and cross-channel content production
