Slate Implementations Operations & Project Manager

The Slate Implementations Operations and Project Manager is a core owner of project execution and operational rigor within Carnegie’s Slate Enrollment Implementations team. This role is responsible for independently managing a small portfolio of complex Slate implementation projects (typically 2–3), with full accountability for project structure, delivery, and day-to-day execution. In parallel, this role strengthens the operational backbone of the Implementations organization by designing, maintaining, and improving internal processes, documentation, and project frameworks that support consistent, scalable delivery across Slate builds, Portals, Integrations, Trainings, and Consultations. This position works collaboratively with Implementation Strategists and cross-functional team members, while retaining clear ownership of project management, governance, communication, and documentation. It requires strong technical awareness, disciplined project management instincts, and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced, remote environment. The role is hands-on, execution-focused, and essential to ensuring projects move forward with clarity, structure, and confidence.

Responsibilities:

  • Internal Operations and Process Optimization
    • Supports the maintenance, documentation, and execution of internal processes for Implementations, Portals, Integrations, and Trainings.
    • Updates operational resources, templates, checklists, and guides to reinforce consistent delivery across the team.
    • Assists in implementing team-wide workflows and helping strategists adopt and follow operational procedures.
    • Tracks the usage and accuracy of project management tools (Asana, Harvest) and flags inconsistencies or enhancement recommendations.
    • Participates in working sessions to outline current-state and future-state workflows.
  • Client-Facing Project Ownership & Communication
    • Serves as the primary owner and project manager for 2–3 complex client implementations, with full accountability for planning, execution, and delivery
    • Independently drives project structure, timelines, milestones, and execution plans, ensuring alignment with client goals, contractual scope, and Carnegie implementation standards
    • Owns project governance, including scope management, risk identification, dependency tracking, issue escalation, and resolution planning, with minimal reliance on strategist direction
    • Partners with Carnegie Implementation Strategists for alignment on strategic intent, while maintaining clear ownership of project decisions, deliverables, and client communication
    • Leads all client-facing communication, including status updates, risk discussions, decision documentation, and expectation-setting across the life of the project
    • Acts as an internal liaison across the broader Implementations team to coordinate handoffs, align workflows, and surface cross-team dependencies
    • Proactively identifies risks, dependencies, and execution gaps, communicating them early and taking action to prevent impact to timeline or quality
    • Maintains comprehensive documentation of client-specific processes, decisions, technical approaches, and build strategies to support continuity, transparency, and long-term success

Qualifications:

  • Experience contributing to technical process mapping, system documentation, and operational improvements, with the ability to design, standardize, and refine scalable implementation frameworks and internal resources
  • Demonstrated background in managing technical implementations using established project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Hybrid Agile/Waterfall, or traditional Waterfall), including requirements gathering, dependency management, risk tracking, and change control
  • Proven success leading complex, multi-phase technical projects from initiation through delivery, with strong ownership of scope, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communication
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills, with the ability to balance internal systems work alongside client-facing implementation responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to identify technical and operational issues, analyze data and requirements, and implement solutions that align with system constraints, team standards, and client expectations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and clearly document workflows, decisions, and implementation outcomes
  • Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a remote-first environment, demonstrating high levels of accountability, autonomy, and follow-through
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and project management platforms such as Asana; experience adapting to new tools and implementation environments quickly
  • Experience with or strong familiarity with Slate CRM (Technolutions) and an understanding of higher education enrollment or student success workflows is strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple technology platforms simultaneously, prioritize competing demands, and maintain clear communication in a distributed team environment
  • Physical requirement: Must be able to work at a computer for prolonged periods

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Project Management, Operations, Information Science, Education) or equivalent experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in operations, project coordination, technical project support, or CRM implementation environments
  • Experience supporting client projects in a SaaS, CRM, or technical consulting context is a strong plus
  • Experience in higher education or admissions technology is preferred
