Senior Paid Search Specialist

The Senior Paid Search Specialist is responsible for the oversight of Google Ads Paid Search campaign development and setup, performance evaluation, optimization, and strategic direction for Carnegie’s more complex higher education clients. Senior Paid Search Specialists will also have the opportunity to manage 1-2 employees on the Paid Search team.

Responsibilities:

  • Campaign Setup and Management
    • Oversee the strategy and execution of key client Paid Search campaigns, including keyword development, ad group and campaign setup, bid strategy management, and overall goal achievement
    • Maintain and monitor campaign performance, analyzing conversion rate, cost per conversion, cost-per-click, impression share, quality score, and other important campaign metrics
    • Work with Digital Strategists to dictate the Paid Search strategy for proposal requests, RFPs, and strategy pivots in order to achieve client goals
    • Oversee development and set up of Discovery campaigns
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Formulate insights around campaign performance, keyword structure, targeting, and other facets of Paid Search
    • Monitor and evaluate performance and craft meaningful recommendations for client review based on data trends that will have a positive impact on performance
  • Internal Team
    • Work collaboratively in a team environment
    • Collaborate strategically with other internal specialists including the Digital Strategy team and other key digital team members to develop fully integrated campaigns to meet client goals
    • Show thought leadership by keeping pace with Paid Search industry trends as well as bringing forward ideas around process improvements, best practices, and tests
  • Leadership Responsibilities
    • Has an integral part in training and onboarding employees for the Paid Search team
    • Work closely with and provide mentorship to Paid Search Associates on keyword creation, campaign setup, and basic optimizations
  • Potential Supervisory Opportunities
    • May participate in interviewing and hiring new team members
    • May assist in overseeing daily workflow of specific employees
    • May contribute to performance feedback or evaluations

Qualifications:

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to effectively multitask in a deadline-driven atmosphere
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills through independent troubleshooting of issues before escalating to other team members
  • Quick learner and ability to adapt to new and changing technologies
  • Clear written communication skills, both internally and externally
  • Passion, energy, and enthusiasm for digital marketing and client success
  • Effective communication and time management skills for a remote work environment as well as the ability to use/learn multiple technology platforms and switch between them on a regular basis
  • Interest in learning and leveraging AI tools and automation to enhance efficiency and campaign performances
  • Must be able to work at a computer for prolonged periods

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Marketing/Advertising major or concentration is preferred
  • 2.5-5 years of experience working in Paid Search in the Google Ads platform; lead generation experience a plus
  • Data analysis experience, particularly experience in analyzing digital campaign metrics to measure success
  • Experience with employee management is preferred
  • Experience with Asana or other project management tools and Google-based products (Docs, Sheets, and Slides) is a plus
  • Currently certified in Google Ads Paid Search is a plus
