Senior Social Media Specialist
Senior Social Media Specialists are responsible for managing complex paid social media advertising campaigns, including account and campaign setup, audience creation, bidding and budget management, and regular testing for Carnegie’s higher education clients. They also lead organic social media initiatives, including audits, content strategy, and social listening, to help clients build an integrated and effective social presence.They support and mentor Social Media Associates and Specialists by providing training and feedback on best practices. Senior Social Media Specialists may have the opportunity to manage employees on the Social Media team.
Responsibilities:
- Paid Social Media Campaign Management
- Launch complex social media campaigns across all major social platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Snapchat, TikTok, Reddit) per latest best practices
- Strategically optimize social media campaigns regularly for optimal performance
- Review Social Media Associates’ and Specialists’ tasks, ensuring campaigns are set up optimally and offering feedback and support as needed
- Organic Social Media Services
- Lead Organic Social Media Audits, including performance analysis, content review, and actionable recommendations for client growth
- Develop Organic Content Strategy deliverables such as monthly content calendars and insights decks to support institutional goals
- Guide Social Listening projects, analyzing conversations, sentiment, and brand mentions to inform client strategy and reputation management
- Partner with clients to align organic strategies with paid media efforts, creating integrated social approaches
- Reporting and Analysis
- Analyze campaign performance effectively based on data trends seen in the platform and Looker Studio dashboards to create client-facing insight notes
- Proactively craft meaningful recommendations for client review based on campaign data trends that will have a positive impact on performance
- Internal Teamwork
- Collaborate across the social team to ensure cohesive support for both paid and organic service lines
- Show thought leadership through contributions in team meetings, including bringing forward ideas about process improvements, new best practices, and ways to test new ideas and services
- Keep pace with paid and organic social media industry trends, sharing articles and updates from platform representatives to the team
- Participate in content creation such as social media blogs, webinars, and internal and external resources
- Supervisory Responsibilities
- Responsible for interviewing, onboarding, training, and mentoring new social team members, as well as the personal and professional growth of direct reports
Qualifications:
- Expertise in both paid and organic social media management, including content strategy and performance analysis
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team while simultaneously managing independent workload/tasks
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new and changing technologies
- Passion, energy, and enthusiasm for digital marketing and customer service/client success
- Effective communication and time management skills for a remote work environment as well as the ability to use/learn multiple technology platforms and switch between them on a regular basis
- Must be able to work at a computer for prolonged periods
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; Marketing/Advertising major or concentration preferred
- Basic knowledge of the digital marketing landscape
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- 3 years of relevant work/internship experience in the digital marketing space
- Data analysis experience, particularly experience analyzing digital campaign metrics to measure success
- Experience managing paid campaigns within Facebook Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Snapchat Business Manager, Reddit Ads Manager, and/or TikTok Ads
- Experience with organic social media management, including audits, content strategy, and performance reporting
- Familiarity with Asana or other project management tools a plus
