Optimizing Operations: Leveraging Slate Tools Across the Student Life Cycle

When: Friday, June 17th, 8:45 A.M. CDT

Where: Davidson C

Two different types of Slate institutions will showcase how they are leveraging Slate functionalities to optimize operations across the student life cycle: from selection to enrollment to retention. Learn how Slate tools such as datasets, portals, readers, queries, applications, and permissions are being utilized to optimize processes from paper to digital, evolving the student and business end user experiences.

Schwarzman Scholars Admissions will discuss our “translate to Slate” design method, refining our selection process in alignment with institutional considerations: internal and external stakeholder needs, executive branding requirements, and a stringent selection timeline. We will highlight our use of forms and queries to expedite progressive steps in our selection process. We will also showcase two tailored features, a Reader Gateway and Interview Candidate Portal, created to optimize the user experience for these key stakeholders.

Eastern Kentucky University will discuss how they utilized portals, datasets, entities, and forms to eliminate the use of external vendors, to move over 500 Endowed Scholarships from paper to digital to improve student and end user experiences, and to create a student self-service one-stop-shop for campus-wide tutoring that aids retention efforts. Our first case example includes endowment scholarship eligibility via 500 web service query exports that map onto criteria-matched students via source formats; awarding via portal embedded forms creating a workflow in tandem with user permissions, portals, forms, datasets, and entities; and multi-faceted communication via student portals, donor portals, and staff portals. Our second case example includes tutor scheduling registration and history based on tutor entity availability, class datasets, a student-facing portal, and scheduler.
