Slate Summit

With a background in developing graduate admissions strategies under a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion, Laura brings years of information systems experience to her role at Carnegie. Prior to joining the team, she worked at Portland State University in Portland, OR, where she led multiple application and recruiting system implementations, as well as maintained the organization and integrity of data as the Systems Manager. She joined the Carnegie team in 2021 as part of the Underscore merger and currently leads the excellent team of Slate Implementation, Trainings, and Front-End Strategists.

Amanda has been a part of higher education for over five years and on the Carnegie Slate Optimization team for the last two years. She's passionate about finding new possibilities in Slate which translate to real and successful initiatives for partner institutions. Having received her Master of Science in Analytics from Charleston Southern University, she finds reports and their capabilities most interesting in Slate along with analyzing them to find a way to strategically add to communication plans. Amanda lives in Pawleys Island, SC with her husband and 17-month old son. Outside of her home office, she loves to lift weights, walk the beach, or get outside for an adventure with her family.

As a data guru, Ted’s unrivaled expertise spans from queries and migration to user-experience enhancements. He has dedicated more than a decade to recruiting and retaining prospective students for colleges all over the country, and he has a deep knowledge and understanding of the complicated numbers that institutions need to leverage with today’s digital natives. Ted joined the Carnegie team as part of the company’s merger with Underscore, a dedicated Slate development and optimization company.

As Trainings Manager and Senior Slate Strategist, Laura Murnen and her team run accessible and highly productive Slate training workshops for Carnegie's clients. In her seven years of higher education experience, Laura has dabbled in a variety of roles including event planning, service learning, recruitment, and communications. Prior to joining the Carnegie team, she served as a recruiter and Assistant Director of Communications for the University of Cincinnati, where she was first introduced to Slate and started in the path to her current role. Laura finds joy in empowering partner institutions in their creativity and use of Slate through customized trainings.

Jim Rogers is laser-focused on clients’ unique enrollment needs, and he can empathize like no one else. From his days as an admission counselor to leading private liberal arts colleges as a dean, he has dedicated the last 25 years to understanding the client perspective. Jim has been enhancing the Carnegie team since 2021 when the company merged with Underscore, a dedicated Slate development and optimization company.

Megan is an expert on the endless possibilities of Slate and is eager to share her enthusiasm about its latest and greatest new features with clients. As a former admissions counselor, she understands the complexities of recruitment and operations in the higher education industry. She joined the Carnegie team in 2021 as part of the company’s merger with Underscore, a dedicated Slate development and optimization company.

As the Vice President of Slate Student Search and Communications, Jess Severt leads a team of Slate experts that assist intuitions across the country in best leveraging their CRM for marketing outreach efforts. With a passion strategic attribution reporting, she ensures that Carnegie efforts contribute to the overall success of our clients. Jess excels in helping institutions make the most of their resources, building strong, budget-conscious, strategic, and personalized student search plans that make a real impact.

Allison got her first glimpse of the admissions world when she landed a job as a tour guide in college - and she's never looked back. After graduating from Penn State, Allison worked in various admissions roles at La Salle University, where she oversaw the implementation of Slate and all things CRM-related, among other things. Now, she's using her love of admissions as part of Carnegie's Slate Optimization team, bringing more than eight years of experience managing email communications and admissions data to her role as Slate Strategist.

Jeremiah is an admission wizard who is continually revealing new ways for clients to maximize Slate. With more than 15 years of enrollment experience-- from counselor to dean of admissions-- he has spent his time implementing undergraduate and graduate instances, as well as an advancement module. Jeremiah joined the Carnegie team as part of the company’s merger with Underscore, a dedicated Slate development and optimization company.
